The Lord says: «I have plans for peace and not for calamity. You will call on me and I will hear you: I will gather you from all the peoples where I have scattered you”. (Cf. Jer 29:11-12.14)

✠ In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

What do you want me to do for you? Lord, may I see again!

✠ From the Gospel according to Luke (Luke 18:35-43). As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard the people passing by, he asked what was happening. They announced to him: “Pass by Jesus the Nazarene!”. Then he cried out: “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who went before scolded him for keeping quiet; but he cried even louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus then stopped and ordered them to lead him to him. When he was near, he asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He answered, “Lord, may I see again!” And Jesus said to him: “Receive your sight! Your faith has saved you ». Immediately he saw us again and began to follow him and praised God, and all the people praised God when they saw it.

“The man saw us again and began to follow Jesus and praised God”

I have such a big treasure. I would like to shout for joy and proclaim it to all creation: praise the Lord who is so great, who is God.(…) The world does not see; the world is blind and God needs love. God needs a lot of love. I can’t give him everything he asks for, I’m small, I’m going crazy, I want the world to love him, but the world is his enemy. Lord, what a tremendous torture! I see it and I can’t fix it. I am too small, insignificant. The love I feel for you breaks me, I wish my brothers, all my friends, everyone, would love you so much. (…)

How I pity the people who, when they see the procession of Jesus and his disciples, remain stunned. What joy the apostles and friends of Jesus must have had every time a soul opened its eyes, detached itself from everything and joined them in the footsteps of the Nazarene, he who asked for nothing but a little love. Shall we follow him, my dear brother? Jesus sees our intention and looks at us, smiles and helps us. There is nothing to fear; perhaps we will be the last in the procession that travels in the lands of Judea, in silence, but full of an immense, infinite love. No words are needed. We don’t have to put ourselves at his height for him to see us. We need no great works, nor anything that attracts attention: we will be the last of Jesus’ friends, but those who love him most.

May your help, Lord our God, always make us happy in your service, so that only in devotion to you, the source of all good, we can have full and lasting happiness. For Christ our Lord. Amen.

✠ The Lord bless us, keep us from all evil and lead us to eternal life. Amen.

“I am the light of the world, says the Lord; whoever follows me will have the light of life”. (John 8:12)

In Christ Jesus, our hope, our way, truth and life, blessed be this day.
